RUNNING FESTIVAL 2019 TRIESTE BAVISELA

Rain and wind did not stop the mai day of the Trieste Running Festival 2019.
The Generali Miramar Family, with 3301 registered participants, started from Miramare, while the 24.Trieste Halfmarathon from Aurisina, with 1827 runners. For all the finish line was set up in the beautiful piazza Unità d’Italia swept by Bora gusts.

Noel Hitimana from Ruanda wins the men’s 24 Trieste Halfmarathon with a time of 1:03.28, among the women, first Volha Mazuronak from Belarus in 1:13:56.
The half marathon has welcomed today in Trieste 1827 runners at the start, 82% from outside Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and 34% foreigners (15% more than last year), from 46 Nations.
Second among the men is Italian athlete Najibe Salami in 1:04:30, third Kenya’s Melly Joel in 1:07:45. Among the women, Cavaline Nahimana, from Burundi finished second clocking 1:14:00, third Italian Laila Soufyane with a time of 1:15:04.
Particularly enthralling has been Rita Giancristofaro’s arrival in Piazza Unità d’Italia who is back running in Trieste after the terrible accident on the Morandi bridge in Genoa. Her family was waiting for her at the finish line and shared her joy when she finished the race.

The non-competitive 7km-long Generali Miramar Family, despite the wind and rain, has run smoothly. The largest group was the Azienda Sanitaria Universitaria Integrata di Trieste, (LILT – Lega Italiana per la Lotta ai Tumori -, Benessere ASDC, Sweet Heart – Dolce Cuore) with over 450 participants, followed by FIALS of Trieste, Unicredit and Insiel, Fitness4Children, Furia Rossa, Flex, OGS, AMPS, Associazione Mamme e Papà Separati FVG Onlus, AIL, Casa Ieralla, team Help Zimbabwe, CUS Trieste, the team representing the school Nazario Sauro and Furia Rossa, a team born for the desire of some associations of the Municipality of Duino Aurisina in memory of Alessio Rotta, the boy who recently died along the Rilke path.

Also Enrico Ambrosetti took part in the Generali Miramar Family, the 16-year-old Triestine basketball player who after being diagnosed a bone cancer, he had his leg amputated but now thanks to his incredible determination and a cutting-edge prosthesis he was able to take part in the race.
